Police investigate armed robberies at Townsville

Detectives are investigating two separate armed robberies that occurred within minutes of each other in Townsville this morning.

Around 1.20am two 18-year-old men were waiting at a car parked on The Strand when a man armed with a knife approached, threatened them before stealing personal items including wallets and keys.

The man was wearing a red bandanna over his face and fled in a silver hatchback.

Then at 1.30am, a man and woman, both 19, were near Anzac Park when a man wearing a white bandanna over his face walked up to them armed with a knife and demanded they hand over phones, wallets and keys.

He fled on foot before getting into a silver hatchback nearby.

No one was injured during both incidents.
