Police investigate armed robbery at Broadbeach

Police have charged a man over the alleged armed robbery of Broadbeach convenience store overnight.

It will be alleged that around 12.40am, a man entered the Surf Parade store and approached the front counter where he threatened the 26-year-old male attended with a knife, demanding cash and two packets of cigarettes.

The employee complied and the man fled the store.

No one was injured during the incident.

Investigations lead police to Peninsular Drive at Surfers Paradise around 1.50am where they located two men in a vehicle allegedly containing a cash, cigarettes and a knife.

The two men were arrested at the scene.

A 43-year-old Main Beach man has subsequently been charged with one count of armed robbery. He is scheduled to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court this afternoon (Friday October 8).

A 40-year-old Main Beach man was released without charge.
