Police investigate armed robbery at Chermside West

Police are searching for a 24-year-old man after a woman and two young children were threatened with a knife and sword before stealing their car at Chermside West yesterday.

At around 4.30pm the man approached the 35-year-old woman who was standing beside the parked car containing her two children on Sambar Close and produced the bladed weapons, demanding the keys.

The woman complied and managed to remove her children from the vehicle before the man fled in the white 2008 Ford Focus hatchback with Queensland registration 775 YNH which remains outstanding.

Detectives have released the image of the 24-year-old man who they believe can assist them with their inquiries into a series of recent incidents in Brisbane and Logan.

Two officers were allegedly threatened with a knife when confronting a man for stealing items from a store in a Loganholme shopping centre around 12.30pm.

The man fled the scene in an orange station wagon which was then driven to the Chermside West location.

It is further alleged on March 4 the same man approached an elderly couple at a residence on Prospect Street in Sherwood and produced a knife before demanding money.

The couple refused and the man fled in a waiting vehicle believed to be the orange station wagon stolen from Hillcrest on March 2.

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate the man who has been witnessed driving dangerously at high speed and may pose a danger to the public.

Police urge anyone with information regarding the man's whereabouts not to approach him but to contact Triple Zero (000) immediately.
