Police investigate armed robbery at Newtown 24 January

Police are appealing for information as they investigate the armed robbery of a hotel in Newtown which occurred yesterday morning (January 23).

At approximately 4.50am, a man forced entry into the Bridge Street business armed with a machete.

He threatened staff before fleeing the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

He was last seen in the vicinity of Vera Street wearing a black cap, black jumper and light coloured long pants.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen people or a vehicle in the area or anyone with CCTV from the area between 4.00am and 5.00am to come forward.
