Police investigate armed robbery at Runcorn 24 January

Police have charged two men and continue to search for three more in relation to the armed robbery of a licenced premises in Runcorn overnight.

It will be alleged at 12.55am five men attended the premises in Gowan Road and threatened staff with a firearm. A male staff member was punched and kicked before the men left the premises with a sum on money.

Three of the men fled in dark coloured vehicle.

Two men fled on foot.

A police dog tracked the two offenders and they were arrested in Bruna Street a short time later.

A 22-year-old Acacia Ridge man was bitten on the wrist by the police dog and treated at the QE2 Hospital.

He and a 23-year-old Acacia Ridge man have both been charged with armed robbery and will appear in the Richland Magistrates Court today.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with relevant dashcam or has further information to contact police.

Investigations are continuing.
