Police investigate armed robbery at Sunnybank 21 February

Police have charged a man and a girl following an alleged robbery in Sunnybank overnight (February 20).

Police will allege the 19-year-old man and 17-year-old girl attended the Mulgowie Street address by prior arrangement at about 10.30pm, posing as buyers, fled the yard toward a nearby park, taking two phones without paying.

It will be further alleged the 37-year-old Sunnybank man, who was attempting to sell the phones, gave chase and a physical altercation occurred during which the Sunnybank man was stabbed and kicked.

The 19 and 17-year-old fled into bushland and were individually located a short time later with the assistance of the Dog Squad.

The 37-year-old sustained several stab wounds to his forehead, lower back and abdomen. It is understood the injuries are not life threatening.

Police have charged the pair with one count each of armed robbery with violence whilst in company and acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm. They were denied police bail with the 19-year-old due to appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court today and the 17-year-old will appear in the Richlands Children's Court.
