Police Investigate Armed Robbery At Yamanto

Detectives from the Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a man following the armed robbery of a businesses at Yamanto on 9 November.

It will be alleged that around 5.10pm, the man entered a tobacco store on Warwick Road and threatened a staff member while demanding cash. The man allegedly stole a cash register before leaving the scene in a stolen 2009 Hyundai i30.

No one was physically injured during the incident.

A few hours later around 9pm police located the Hyundai parked at a hotel on Brisbane Street in Booval where it is alleged the man threatened police with a knife before he was arrested and taken into custody.

The vehicle was stolen from a Keogh Street property in Ipswich earlier on 9 November.

A 32-year-old Ipswich man has been charged with one count each of enter dwelling and commit, receiving tainted property, armed robbery, and serious assault police.

He is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court today, 11 November.

Investigations remain ongoing.
