Police investigate assault at Christies Beach , SA

Police have arrested a man and are looking for several others following an incident at a Christies Beach home last night, according to SA Police.

About 8.30pm on Tuesday 25 September, police were called to a home in Pearce Street after the occupant disturbed two men attempting to steal items from his ute parked in the street.

When the occupant confronted the men, they allegedly assaulted him with a shovel and threatened him with a knife.

During this time, another four men arrived at the property where the occupant was further assaulted and a number of vehicles damaged.

The group had left prior to police arriving.

The man was treated by paramedics before being taken to the Flinders Medical Centre for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

At 10am this morning (26 September), Detectives from Southern District CIB arrested a man allegedly involved in the incident.

A 30-year-old man from Christie Downs was charged with aggravated assault causing harm, affray, being unlawfully on premises, property damage and illegal interference. He was refused police bail and appeared in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today.

Police investigations are continuing regarding the other men involved and further arrests are expected.
