Police investigate assault in Prahran

Police are appealing for assistance to help identify two men following an assault in Prahran on 8 June.

Investigators have been told a cyclist was at the intersection of Chapel Street and Malvern Road about 8.15pm when two men assaulted him in what is believed to have been an unprovoked attack.

It is understood the pair were behaving erratically and appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

A passer-by who witnessed the incident attempted to intervene before he was also assaulted by one of the men.

The 28-year-old man sustained minor facial injuries and did not require treatment.

The male cyclist is not believed to have sustained any injuries.

The two men fled on foot and were last seen heading south along Chapel Street.

Detectives have released images and CCTV footage of two men who they believe can assist with their enquiries.

Both are perceived as Caucasian in appearance and aged in their 20s with medium builds and short dark hair.

One of the men was wearing a distinctive blue and white Fila top, blue jeans and black shoes.

The second was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and white shoes.

Police are also hoping to speak to the cyclist, who left the scene prior to officers' arrival.
