Police investigate assault on male in Fitzroy

Collingwood Police are investigating after a man was assaulted in Fitzroy on 9 June.

Police have been told the victim, a 27-year-old man from Tarneit, was approached by a man outside a business in Johnston Street at approximately 2.20am.

The man had a conversation with the victim before kicking him in the stomach and punching him in the face

The man fled east on Johnston Street, before catching a taxi on Brunswick Street.

The victim received minor injuries.

Police have released images of a man they believe can assist with their enquiries.

The man is described as 175cm, solid build, of African appearance with short black hair.

He was wearing a red jacket, white t-shirt, jeans and a gold necklace.
