Police investigate Bendigo Music Festival assault

Bendigo Police are investigating an assault that occurred at a music festival in Bendigo last month.

A 41-year-old Ascot man attended the event at Bendigo Racecourse with friends on Saturday, 25 March.

The man was seen heading to a dance floor area at the event where he had an encounter with another male about 9.30pm.

Investigators have been told an incident occurred which resulted in both men ending up on the ground.

The 41-year-old man got up and attempted to run away but was chased down by the other man and punched in the back of the head, causing him to lose consciousness.

The injured man's friends assisted him until paramedics arrived and he was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators have interviewed a 53-year-old Bendigo man who has since been released pending further enquiries.

Investigations into the incident remain ongoing and police are particularly interested in hearing off anyone who may have seen the initial incident which resulted in the men being on the ground.
