Police were called to the town of Bendoc in north east Victoria about 3.30 this morning following reports of an assault.
Police arrived at the address about 6am and located a deceased female.
Homicide squad detectives and Major Crime Scene investigators are en route.
A 64-year-old man has been taken into custody
Police believe all parties are known to each other and the investigation is ongoing.
