Police investigate Brighton car break-ins

Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after several cars were broken into in Brighton this morning.

It is understood two stolen vehicles, a white Volkswagen Tiguan and a grey Mazda SUV, were seen driving in convoy in the area before coming to a stop on Newbay Crescent about 7.30am.

Police were told both male drivers got out of the vehicles, broke into parked cars, then attempted to climb over a fence.

The two offenders were disturbed by police a short time later.

They dumped the Volkswagen on Newbay Crescent, then both fled the scene in the Mazda.
