Police investigate Brunswick double homicide

Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the deaths of two men in Brunswick early this morning.

Emergency services were called to a residential address on Hope Street about 5.20am after receiving reports of a stabbing.

A man, believed to be aged in his 50s, died in the ambulance en route to hospital.

Police then attended the Hope Street address where a second person, a 59-year-old Brunswick man, was located deceased.

Shortly after, police received reports of a female covered in blood on board a city bound tram from Hope Street in Brunswick.

A 44-year-old Brunswick woman was arrested on the tram at the intersection of Faraday and Swanston Streets in Carlton and was conveyed to hospital to be treated for her injuries.

She remains under police guard in hospital, and as yet, detectives have been unable to speak to her.

At this stage, police believe all parties are known to each other.
