Police investigate CBD indecent assault

Police have released an image of a man they wish to speak to following the indecent assault of a girl in Melbourne’s CBD earlier this month, Victoria Police say.

An 11-year-old girl was walking with her mother and brother towards a theatre on Collins Street about 2.50pm on Sunday, 4 June.

The girl was walking closest to the road when an unknown man walking in the opposite direction has put his hand under her skirt and grabbed her on the buttock.

The man then crossed the road and the victim told her mother what happened.

Her mother confronted the man and took a number of pictures of him before later reporting the matter to police.

The victim was physically uninjured during the incident.

Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives are investigating the incident and have released CCTV and an image of a man they wish to speak to in relation to the matter.

The man is described as being aged in his 40s, about 170cm tall with a medium build, dark brown hair and a pointed nose.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a blue jacket, blue jeans, white runners and carrying a black backpack.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
