Police investigate Clifton Hill collision

Yarra Highway Patrol members are appealing for witnesses after a teenage girl was hit by a van yesterday afternoon at Clifton Hill, Victoria Police say.

Police have been told the 15-year-old girl got on a bus at Clifton Hill Railway station, before traveling south on Hoddle Street.

The Fitzroy girl got off the bus, with friends, near the intersection with Noone Street, Clifton Hill at about 3pm.

She stepped onto Hoddle Street and was struck by a south bound white Toyota Hiace van.

The driver of the van, a 37-year-old Clayton man immediately stopped to render assistance.

The teenage girl was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Police are keen to speak to anyone that may have witnessed the incident or been on the bus immediately prior.
