Police investigate crash after pursuit at Waterloo

Police are investigating a crash following a pursuit in Sydney's inner-city last night.

Just before 11pm (Tuesday 11 June 2019), officers from Redfern Police Area Command were patrolling Waterloo, when they attempted to stop a Mazda 3 on Young Street after it failed to stop at a stop sign.

The Mazda failed to stop, and a short pursuit was initiated but terminated shortly after due to safety concerns.

Minutes later, police attended the intersection of Elizabeth and Powell Streets, after the Mazda collided with a Mercedes travelling north on Elizabeth Street.

Two men were seen to get out of the Mazda and flee through Waterloo Oval.

The Mercedes driver, a 27-year-old man, was uninjured.

Inquiries are continuing.
