Police investigate Dandenong affray

Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses to an assault and affray overnight (16 December), Victoria Police say.

Police were called to Foster Street about 3.30am following reports of a large number of people brawling outside a licensed premises.

It is understood the brawl broke out between two groups after a 28-year-old Cranbourne man was assaulted while leaving the venue.

He sustained serious but non-life threatening facial injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police, including officers from the Public Order Response Team and Dog Squad, attended the scene and dispersed the crowd.

Capsicum spray was used during the incident after a number of people became aggressive towards officers.

Another 28-year-old man, also from Cranbourne, was arrested during the incident for being drunk in a public place.

The investigation into the affray and assault remains ongoing.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

In particular, investigators are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have mobile phone or dash cam footage to contact Crime Stoppers.
