Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Toorak overnight.
Emergency services were called to an address on Orrong Road following reports a man was injured just before 8pm.
The 72-year-old man was transported to hospital in a critical condition but died a short time later.
Regional detectives assisted by homicide investigators attended the scene overnight and a crime scene was set up.
A 71-year-old woman is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
Investigators will await the results of a post-mortem to assist in determining the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
