Police are investigating a deliberately lit fire at the former ‘Charity Shop’ on Invermay Road at Mowbray around midday today.
Tasmania Fire Service attended the scene and extinguished the fire prior to conducting a fire scene examination.
The fire was determined to have been deliberately lit in a pile of furniture stacked at the front of the shop. The fire spread through the furniture damaging the exterior of the building as well as allowing smoke into the building.
Police would like to speak to anyone who has information in relation to the fire or anyone in the area around the time, including a man in an electric wheelchair heading south toward the Mowbray shopping centre precinct.
Information can be provided to Tasmania Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000 or online at crimestopperstas.com.au
