Police investigate Eaglemont car theft

Police are investigating following a theft of a 2005 white Subaru Impreza from an Eaglemont home earlier this month, Victoria Police say.

Investigators have been told the victim, a 26 year old man from Eaglemont, advertised the car for sale online and was contacted by two men in response to the advertisement.

About 6.30pm on 1 March 2017 two men attended the victim’s home and asked to look at the car.

One of the men left shortly after in a red Holden Commodore Ute while the other man pretended to inspect the vehicle before driving off in it.

The Subaru was involved in a collision on Upper Heidelberg Road Ivanhoe a short time later.

The driver fled the scene.

Investigators have released CCTV images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
