Police investigate fatal collision at Truganina

Police are currently on scene of a fatal collision that has claimed the life of a young girl in Truganina overnight, Victoria Police say.

Police have been told a Ford Territory was travelling along Hopkins Road when it overtook a Honda SUV and collided head-on with a Ford Focus about midnight.

The Territory then also collided with the Honda SUV.

The 41-year-old male driver from Rockbank, and sole occupant of the Ford Territory, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A man and woman with two children were travelling in the Ford Focus.

A 10-year-old girl died at the scene.

The female driver and young boy were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the male passenger was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Five occupants in the Honda SUV were not injured.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are on scene investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
