Police investigate house fire in Clayton South

Police are investigating a suspicious house fire that has completely gutted an apartment in Clayton South.

The apartment was unoccupied at the time on 4 April when three unknown men attended the Clayton Road property around 9.40pm.

One of the men used a baseball bat to smash the windows of the apartment before setting the living room on fire.

The men then fled in a silver Kia Stonic which was parked in nearby Narrumburn Street.

No one was injured but the apartment is uninhabitable due to the damage with an estimated cost of up to $200,000.

The males are described as:

The first male is perceived to be Caucasian with a shaved head, medium build and was wearing a blue hooded jumper, black pants and black/blue shoes.

The second male is perceived to be Caucasian with a medium build and was wearing a black face mask, black jacket, dark coloured baseball cap with three gold stripes on the front visor, black tracksuit pants with three gold stripes on the side and white sneakers.

The third male is perceived to be Caucasian with a thin build, short brown hair and was wearing black face mask, black t-shirt, dark coloured jeans, white sneakers with blue coloured heels and was carrying a baseball bat.

Investigators have released CCTV and images of males they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries and a vehicle believed to have been used.
