Whittlesea Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance after a man was stabbed in Lalor last month.
Police have been told a man was approached by an unknown male on Kingsway Drive near Edgars Road when an altercation occurred about 3.45pm on 25 August.
The victim tried to run from the scene when was stabbed a number of times to his back.
An 18-year-old Lalor man was assisted by a passerby and taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The offender fled the scene and is described as being aged in his teens, perceived to be of Middle Eastern appearance with a thin build.
He was wearing a black tracksuit and a hooded jumper with large white letters 'HOODRICH'. He was also wearing large black headphones and had a balaclava on.
Investigators have released images and CCTV of a male that may assist with their enquiries.
