An investigation is underway following the sexual assault of a woman aged in her 80s near Maitland last night.
Officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District have been told the woman was walking in Brooklyn Park – between Kilkenny Circuit and Chelmsford Drive at Ashtonfield – about 7:20pm yesterday (Monday 17 November 2025) when she was knocked to the ground by a male who attempted to sexually assault the woman.
The male left the park, and the woman contacted a family member who alerted police.
The woman was taken to hospital for treatment.
Local detectives – assisted by the State Crime Command's Sex Crimes Squad – have commenced inquiries into the incident under Strike Force Bosgar.
Police have released a description of a teenage boy they believe may be able to assist with inquiries.
He is described as being aged mid-to-late teens and having a dark complexion, wearing a black t-shirt and black shorts. He left the scene on a push scooter.
