Police investigate Melbourne assault 2 February

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance to identify two men following an unprovoked assault in the Melbourne CBD late last year.

Investigators have been told two men were on the corner of King Street and Lonsdale Street when they were approached and assaulted by two unknown men about 2am on 20 December.

Both victims, a 24-year-old Noble Park man and a 23-year-old man also from Noble Park, were knocked unconscious during the assault and one was transported to hospital.

Investigators have released images of two men who they believe can assist with their enquires.

Both offenders were perceived to be of Maori or Pacific Islander in appearance and had facial hair.
