Police Investigate Moorabbin Business Fire

Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a business fire at a vacant building in Moorabbin last month.

It's understood two males removed the registration plates from a silver Nissan X-Trail SUV on Exley Drive, Hampton East on 28 September.

The same males drove the X-Trail to the rear of a business on the Nepean Highway, near Ewar Street, about 2.50pm.

The duo entered the building and set fire to it before fleeing in the X-Trail northbound on the Nepean Highway about 3.20pm.

No one was injured during the incident.

Investigators have released images and CCTV of the vehicle and two men who may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The X-Trail is believed to be a 2017 to 2023 model, featuring roof rails, a visible dent to the lower-section of the driver's door, a rear driver-side window visor and a smashed rear passenger-side window.

Both males are perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged in their 20s to 30s.

The driver is described as average height and solid build, with short dark hair and a short beard.

He was wearing a surgical mask, black hoodie, fluorescent orange and yellow vest, black pants and black and red shoes.

The front passenger is tall with a thin build, wearing a black and white beanie, dark sunglasses, surgical mask, red and black jacket, black pants and black and white shoes.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, with CCTV/dashcam footage or with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit an online confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
