Police investigate Mount Duneed collision

Police are currently on scene following a collision that has left a woman with life-threatening injuries in Mount Duneed this afternoon, Victoria Police say.

Police have been told a white Ford sedan was travelling behind a red Mitsubishi sedan east along Mount Duneed Road just after 2pm.

It is believed the white Ford collided into the rear of the Mitsubishi which left the road and crashed into a tree near Charlemont Road.

The female driver of the Mitsubishi aged 25 from Mount Helen has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A child in the Mitsubishi was taken to hospital for observation.

The driver of the Ford, a 45-year-old Whittington man was taken to hospital and is assisting police with their enquiries.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are on scene investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Police are keen to speak to anyone that may have witnessed the collision or the movements of the white Ford sedan prior to the collision.
