Police investigate Northcote assault

Police are investigating after a man was assaulted in Northcote on 28 June.

It is understood the man had been sitting in his parked vehicle on Separation Street about 5.20pm when an unknown man wearing a hi-visibility vest approached his van and opened the driver's side door.

The man assaulted the victim before fleeing the scene in a white Toyota Hilux.

The attack was unprovoked.

The victim, a 52-year-old Greensborough man, sustained bruising and a broken tooth as a result of the incident.

The investigation is ongoing and police are keen to speak to anyone with information.

In particular, they have been told four young males on BMX bikes were in the area at the time and had a conversation with the victim after he was assaulted.

Police believe these individuals may have witnessed the incident and are asking them to come forward.
