Police investigate overnight stabbing at Cowra

A man has been airlifted to Sydney after being stabbed in the state's Central West region.

About 6pm yesterday (Sunday 8 September 2019), officers attached to Chifley Police District were called to Mulyan Street at Cowra following reports a man had been stabbed.

It is alleged two men confronted the male, aged 30, in relation to an ongoing dispute when a fight ensued.

Police were told the 30-year-old man produced a knife during the fight and stabbed a 28-year-old man in the chest before a witness intervened.

The 28-year-old attended Cowra Hospital for treatment and was later airlifted to Sydney in a stable condition.

Officers from Chifley Police District established a crime scene at the Mulyan Street address and commenced inquiries.

Investigations continue.
