Police investigate Peacock Centre fire

Police are investigating after a deliberately lit structure fire occurred at the Peacock Centre in Elphinstone Road, Mount Stuart, overnight.

TFS and Police were called to the scene about 8.30pm last night, and on arrival, the building was fully involved in fire.

The fire was quickly extinguished, however damage to the building is substantial.

The building was undergoing renovations and was vacant at the time of the fire. No one was injured in the incident.

Police are calling for witnesses, particularly if anyone saw a person or people acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the fire.

Police have released descriptions of two potential suspects:

• Male one: 19 - 20 years old, wearing a black hooded jumper and dark pants, slim build and around 172cm.

• Male two: 19 – 20 years old, wearing a white jumper, dark pants, blonde hair, slim build and around 172cm.

"We're also asking for businesses or residents in the area to check their CCTV around the time of the fire and forward onto police for investigation, " said Acting Inspector Stewart Cashion.
