Police investigate Point Lonsdale attempted armed robbery

Police are investing an attempted armed robbery at a Point Lonsdale General Store this morning (3 March), Victoria Police say.

Investigators have been told a man entered the premises around 8.30am armed with an edged weapon.

The man threatened the attendant and demanded cash but was disturbed by a delivery driver who entered the shop from the rear of the store.

The offender ran from the store into school grounds nearby.

He is believed to be in his late teens, approximately 185cm tall with a thin build wearing a white face mask or balaclava, black hoodie jumper and dark coloured pants.

It is believed that a man was jogging in the area near the general store at the time of the burglary and spoke with another witness present at the time. Police are keen to speak with him.
