Police investigate Preston assault

Police are investigating an assault which occurred in Preston earlier this month, Victoria Police say.

Officers have been told a man, believed to be in his 50s and wearing a dark jacket, was standing in a disabled parking bay at a car park off Murray Road about 10am on Thursday 3 August.

A 70-year-old Craigieburn man who was driving a purple Ford sedan attempted to pull into the bay and park.

An argument between the driver and the man over who had a right to the bay ensued and became physical.

The driver fell to the ground and hit his head.

He suffered serious injuries and required hospital treatment.

The assault stopped when another man intervened and broke the parties up.

Police wish to speak to the man who was standing in the parking bay.
