Mernda Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives are appealing for public assistance to help identify a man following a sexual assault in Reservoir in December last year.
A woman was dropped off near her Reservoir property by a rideshare before she lost consciousness just before 2am on Thursday, 4 December.
She woke up inside an unknown unit on Strathmerton Street, to find a man sexually assaulting her sometime between 2am and just before 4am.
The 30-year-old woman pushed the man off before walking home and calling police.
It is unclear how the woman was moved from the nature strip to the nearby unit.
Investigators have made enquiries at the unit, which appears to be unoccupied and often used by squatters and multiple unknown people.
The rideshare driver has been identified and ruled out as a suspect.
Detectives have released a computer-generated image of a man who may be able to assist with the investigation.
The man is perceived to be of Middle Eastern appearance, aged between 50 and 60-years-old, with dark hair, olive skin, a thin build, and clean shaven.
Anyone who can assist investigators with identifying the man, with CCTV/dashcam vision in the area, or any other information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
