Police investigate Richmond armed robbery

Melbourne Embona Robbery Taskforce detectives are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery in Richmond last month.

Police have been told a 49-year-old man was walking on Shelley Street when he was approached by an unknown male on Thursday 19 August around 2pm.

The offender offered to sell the victim jewellery, before assaulting him with a blunt weapon.

The offender then fled the scene with the victim's mobile phone, wallet, and Prada sunglasses, and was last seen running towards Victoria Street.

Investigators have released images and CCTV of a man they believe will be able to assist them with their enquiries.

He is described as Caucasian, 183cm tall, and a slim build. He was wearing a baseball hat, a blue Nike brand top, and brown pants.

The victim was knocked unconscious and required medical attention for cuts and bruising

Investigators are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone that may have been in the area at the time of the incident.
