Police investigate robbery at unlawful entry and dangerous operation of a vehicle charges, Runcorn

Police have charged a 40-year-old man after he allegedly stole a sports car and drove it in a dangerous manner.

It will be alleged at 9.30am yesterday (March 21), the man approached a 26-year-old woman who was returning to her 2014 grey Subaru BRZ at a Runcorn home and entered the passenger side door.

Police will further allege the man threatened her, pretending to be armed with a gun, before forcing her out of the driver's seat and driving off along Beenleigh Road in an easterly direction.

The woman sustained minor injuries due to a struggle.

The car was later sighted in South Brisbane where it was alleged to be driven in a dangerous manner. Patrolling police searching for the stolen car spotted it travelling on Logan road and followed it.

Both vehicles came to a halt in traffic at the intersection of Creek and Logan roads. Police allegedly stopped the driver as they attempted to evade them.

Following a struggle police managed to remove the man and arrest him. He was taken to the Richlands Watchhouse where he was denied police bail and remains in custody until his appearance in the Richlands Magistrates Court today (March 22).

Detectives from Acacia Ridge Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a 40-year-old Mount Gravatt man with robbery with violence, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle for committing an indictable offence, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle with prior conviction, evade police and obstruct police. Anyone with further information about the Subaru or the driver is encouraged to contact police.
