Police investigate serious assault at Townsville

Police are investigating the serious assault of a man in Vincent this afternoon.

Just before 5pm, police were called to an address on Beattie Crescent, after the resident and four people who attended the address became involved in a dispute.

The disturbance resulted in the 44-year-old male resident receiving wounds to his torso, consistent with being stabbed.

He was transported to the Townsville University Hospital for treatment to life-threatening-injuries.

A crime scene has been declared as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the assault.

Anyone with information, or who may have witnessed any suspicious behaviour around the time is asked to contact police.
