Police Investigate Serious Assault At Upper Coomera

Police have charged a man following a serious assault in Upper Coomera last night, 17 October.

It will be alleged around 9pm, a 43-year-old man entered a Fleur Court residence armed with a baseball bat.

A verbal altercation is then alleged to have occurred between the man and a 50-year-old male resident, who are loosely known to each other.

The 43-year-old man is further alleged to have struck the victim several times with the baseball bat, before leaving the residence and returning to his vehicle, a grey BYD Seal, which was parked outside.

It is alleged the victim followed the offender outside, before the 43-year-old man intentionally struck the victim with his vehicle, twice, before leaving the scene.

Emergency services, including police, attended a short time later, where the victim was located with serious injuries.

He was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.

Following inquiries, the 43-year-old man was located at a Highland Park residence a short time later and taken into custody.

The man has been charged with one count each of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and enter dwelling and commit an indictable offence acts.

He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today, 18 October.
