Police investigate sexual assault at park in Mitcham

Box Hill Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives are appealing for public assistance following a sexual assault in Mitcham last week.

Investigators have been told a man approached a woman while she was pushing a pram at a park on Mitcham Road just after 4.30pm, on Friday 6 January.

The man spoke to the victim, asking if she could take a photograph of him and a selfie, before he started kissing her.

The woman was followed by the man before he again sexually assaulted her, kissed her and put his arms around her.

The woman was able to get away from the man and raised the alarm.

It is believed the man was last seen walking away from the scene in a northerly direction.

The man is described as being in his mid-20's, about 168cm's tall.

He was wearing a striped T-shirt and tracksuit pants.
