Central Gippsland Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives are investigating after a man sexually assaulted a woman in a Wonthaggi laundrette earlier in the month.

Police were told a man approached the woman in the Graham Street laundrette and engaged in sexual activity about 2.30pm on 19 October.

The man offered the woman money before fleeing in a vehicle described as an old, dark blue sedan in poor condition.

Investigators have released an image of a man they believe may be able to assist them with their enquiries.

The male is described as being 40 to 50 years old, with a dark olive complexion, heavy build and bald.

The man was last seen wearing black sunglasses on his head, a black t-shirt with white writing and blue jeans.

Anyone who recognises the man or has information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
