Melbourne Embona Task Force detectives are investigating a robbery and assault in Southbank last month.
Investigators have been told a 28-year-old Queensland man was in a toilet block within a licensed venue when he was assaulted by an unknown man on 18 October about 4.40am.
The unknown man then fled on foot with the victim's mobile phone.
Investigators have released images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
The man is perceived to be of African appearance, mid-20s, slim build and approximately 173cm tall.
