Police investigate St Kilda affray

Police are appealing for public assistance as they investigate an affray and subsequent alleged assault on a police officer in St Kilda on Monday 13 December.

Emergency services were called to reports of a fight involving two groups of youths at about 5.30pm.

Responding police attempted to intervene and one officer was assaulted, sustaining minor injuries.

Investigators have been told the incident was preceded by another fight involving five people, including two people armed with batons.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed either incident, has footage, or any other information that could assist police to come forward.

A 17-year-old Maidstone boy was arrested at the scene and will face court at a later date with charges relating to affray, aggravated assault and assault of a police officer.
