Police arrested two men following an incident in Narre Warren on 29 December, Victoria Police say.
A silver Holden station wagon was observed with allegedly stolen number plates on Princes Highway just after midday.
Police attempted to intercept but the car took off.
The same vehicle was observed on Centre Road in Narre Warren a short time later then located in a driveway nearby.
The 23-year-old Narre Warren man and 24-year-old Lynbrook have been released pending further enquiries.
