Police investigate suspicious house fire - Goodwood, TAS

Glenorchy CIB is investigating a suspicious house fire in Edinburgh Crescent, Goodwood, Tasmania Police say.

Tasmania Fire Service and Tasmania Police attended a report of a fire in Edinburgh Crescent, Goodwood, about 9.25pm on Friday 1 June.

On arrival, it was established that a backyard shed was well alight. The fire was extinguished a short time later. Damage to the shed and contents is estimated at approximately $40,000.

Checks of the residence revealed that it had been broken into prior to the fire. A number of items of property were stolen.

An examination was conducted by Tasmania Fire Service and Tasmania Police. The cause of the fire has been determined as deliberately lit.

Investigations are being conducted by Glenorchy CIB who are requesting information from members of the public. Information can be provided by contacting Glenorchy CIB on 61732881 during business hours, Tasmania Police on 131444 or alternatively provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
