Police investigate Thomastown armed robbery

Whittlesea Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding an armed robbery in Thomastown early this morning, Victoria Police say.

Police have been told five males were in a black Toyota sedan on Bendigo Crescent when a red Holden Commodore pulled up beside them about 1.20am.

It is believed the driver of the Commodore produced a firearm and the Toyota drove away.

The offenders followed the Toyota to Yuong Court where demands were made for the five occupants of the black Toyota to hand over their mobile phones and wallets.

Two male offenders then produced a knife and assaulted the five males who all ran from the scene.

The offenders also fled the scene in the red Commodore and were last seen driving north along Edgars Road.

Emergency services were called to Edgars Road a short time later and located a man with what are believed to be stab wounds sustained during the incident.

The man, aged in his 20s, was conveyed to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Two other males were located in the area and another presented themselves to hospital with what appear to be assault-related injuries.

None of these injuries are life-threatening at this stage.

A fifth victim was also located nearby but did not require treatment.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
