Police investigate tool theft in Caulfield

Kingston Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating a theft from motor vehicle incident in Caulfield earlier this month, Victoria Police say.

Investigators believe a white Holden Commodore utility drove up to a white Toyota Hiace work van which was parked on Feodore Street on Tuesday 15 August about 4.55am.

It’s believed the driver of the utility, an unknown man, got out of the vehicle and used a knife to cut a rubber seal on the van’s window.

He then removed the window and opened the van sliding door.

The man then removed a box containing an electric Makita drill and drill bits.

He then returned to the utility and left in an unknown direction.

At the time of the incident it is believed there was a passenger inside the utility.

Police have released CCTV and images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The driver of the utility is described as being of Caucasian appearance, taller than 183cm and has a solid build.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a dark jacket with light coloured pants.

The Holden utility is an 89 to 91 model with a soft covering on the rear tub.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
