Police investigate Wallan car fire

Detectives from Mitchell Crime Investigation Unit are appealing for public assistance to help identify a man following a suspicious car fire in Wallan in earlier this year.

Investigators have been told the Holden Commodore was parked at a Hight Street shopping centre car park for several months prior to being torched on 28 May.

It is believed an unknown man attended the car park about 2.30am, poured an accelerant into the vehicle before setting it alight and fleeing on foot.

Detectives have released CCTV vision of a man who they believe can assist with their enquiries.

The man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance and aged in his 30's or 40's.

He was wearing dark tracksuit pants with white stripes and a dark RVCA brand hoody with yellow writing.

Anyone who witnessed who can identify the man or with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppervic.com.au.
