Arson & Explosives Squad and Moorabool Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating an alleged assault in Wheatsheaf on Tuesday, 14 March.
It is alleged a man was assaulted following an altercation on Wallaby Road about 10.25am.
He was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A 59-year-old Wheatsheaf man was arrested at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.
Police are working to establish the exact circumstances of the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
