Police investigating after serious crash at Shellharbour

A woman and child have been taken to hospital following a crash in Shellharbour overnight.

About 10.15pm (Tuesday 20 April 2021), a black Mazda CX-5 was travelling east on Lake Entrance Road, when it left the roadway and collided with a power pole.

The driver, a 27-year-old woman, freed herself from the vehicle and walked a short distance to Shellharbour Hospital with the rear passenger, a two-year-old boy.

The woman was taken to St George Hospital with non-life-threatening internal injuries, while the child was taken to Sydney Children's Hospital with a fractured leg.

Police attended and established a crime scene, which was forensically examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.

The vehicle was seized for forensic examination.
