Police investigating after two men shot - Lewisham

Police are continuing to investigate after two men were shot – one fatally – in Sydney's inner west today.

Just after 1pm (Friday 4 September 2020), emergency services were called to Henry Street, Lewisham, following reports a man had been injured.

On arrival, officers from Inner West Police Area Command found a man, aged in his 30s, suffering a gunshot wound to his chest.

Despite attempts to revive him, he died on route to hospital. The man has not been formally identified.

A short time later, a second man, aged 55, was located in a nearby home in Victoria Street, Lewisham, suffering a gunshot wound to his head.

He was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

A crime scene has been established with detectives investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Initial inquiries suggest the shootings were targeted and there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The two men are believed to be known to each other.
